“One good thing about music, is when it hits you, you feel no pain.”
Music lights my soul. There is just something pretty special about it. It warms my heart, calms my mind and soothes my soul. It’s just good for my head, my heart, my body, my soul.
Every year in November/ December, I like to spend some time reflecting on the past 12 months. I use it as an opportunity to daydream, soul search and goal set for the coming year. It’s my chance to smile about the good, learn from the bad and plan to kick-butt in the coming year.
At the end of 2014, I realized I had lost sight of how important music is to my life. It is part of a perfect day; one of my sources of meditation. I use it to concentrate, to think, to escape, to just be.
When I set my themes or feelings for 2015, which I like to do more so than goal-setting, I included PASSION as one of them. PASSION for me meant moving closer to self-discovery, to clarity and to fulfillment. It was about doing more of the things I loved and about living with each day with PASSION. And how could I do that without a great playlist?
With that, I set out with a goal to see ALL of the concerts and to re-ignite my love for music. I started with buying a record player, which quickly became my most coveted possession. There is just something about the sound of the needle hitting vinyl that sends shivers down my spine. Then I bought tickets, lots of tickets.
Here is a look back at the shows I’ve seen over the past year. I didn’t set out to buy the best seats (hence the grainy iPhone shots), I set out to be there, to experience, to listen, to feel the music. I was looking for something. I was missing a part of me.
I think I did pretty good at reaching that goal – don’t you think?
In my yearly reflections, I fell back in love with music. The re-visited passion ignited new energies and re-lit my soul. I look forward to see what 2016 has in store – see you mid-January, Vance Joy!
